About this programme
The purpose of this qualification is to provide New Zealand workplaces with people who have the foundation health and safety skills and knowledge to meet workplace health and safety requirements and responsibilities associated with their place of employment and will be able to contribute effectively to the wider community.
This programme is run by RMG under a contractual arrangement with Te Pūkenga – Work based Learning.
What you will learn
Graduates will be able to:
- Apply knowledge of legislative requirements, and workplace health and safety practices to the general workplace environment.
- Apply the requirements for workplace health and safety communication to a job role.
- Apply the principles of health and safety risk assessment to a job role.
- Demonstrate awareness of the benefits of good workplace health and safety practices on themselves, their families, their place of work and wider community.

New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice (Level 3)
Who should attend?
This programme is targeted at those currently working in industry who hold positions as supervisors, Health and Safety Representatives, and are actively involved in the promotion of workplace health and safety. It is also suitable for employees who hold an old National Certificate in OSH Level 3.

Training progression
This programme leads into the NZ Certificate in Workplace Health & Safety Practice (Level 4) and/or the NZ Certificate in Business (Introduction to Team Leadership) (Level 3) / (First Line Management) (Level 4).
Admission information
All applicants are required to be employed and:
- Have responsibility for the health and safety of others, OR
- Be a trained Health and Safety Representative (HSR) as defined by WorkSafe under HSWA 2015.

Delivery and costs
Venue: This course is held regularly across the country, or can be delivered on premises at your workplace for 10 or more enrolments.
Cost (Public): $1,300 (plus GST) per person (if subsidies apply).
Cost (Non-funded): $2,100 (plus GST) per person.
Note: Travel disbursements may apply to these rates depending on venue.
All costs above include a NZ Certificate – Te Pūkenga programme plus registered NZQA unit standards.

About this programme
The purpose of this qualification is to provide New Zealand workplaces with people that have the skills and knowledge to promote, monitor, and manage health and safety practices and procedures, and a positive health and safety culture in the workplace.
This programme is run by RMG under a contractual arrangement with Te Pūkenga – Work-based Learning.
What you will learn
Graduates will be able to:
- Implement, supervise, monitor, and communicate organisational and job-specific health and safety requirements and practices, for a team in the workplace.
- Utilise leadership skills to promote the benefits of good workplace health and safety practices and a proactive health and safety culture within a team.
- Apply knowledge of health and safety risk analyses and mitigation strategies for a team in the workplace.
- Recognise the impact of work-related ill health and injuries on a specific business operation and the wider industry.

This programme targets those currently working in industry as first-line managers, safety supervisors/representatives, coordinators, or team leaders actively involved in the practical management of OSH.
